About Measure O

Vote Yes on O to provide safe and updated classrooms to support quality education for Tracy students!
Many of Tracy’s local schools were built MORE THAN 30 years ago, have NEVER been renovated or updated and don’t meet today’s safety codes.
Each day thousands of local students attend class in more than 250 portable classrooms that are over 25 years old and falling apart. Most have structural damage, water leaks, and contain hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead. Additionally, underground pipes and infrastructure at local schools are failing, resulting in gas leaks, water leaks, and sewage backups.
Voting YES on O will provide locally controlled funding to upgrade and repair aging schools, to ensure that local kids learn in safe and up-to-date classrooms, science labs and school facilities.
Vote Yes on O to:
-
Remove hazardous materials like asbestos and lead pipes from older school sites
-
Repair or replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, gas lines, sewer lines, and
electrical systems
-
Upgrade older schools so they meet current health codes, building safety codes and provide proper access for students with disabilities
-
Improve student safety and campus security systems
-
Provide classrooms, labs, facilities and technology needed to support high-quality instruction in math, science, engineering and technology
Measure O requires strict fiscal accountability and local control:
-
An independent citizens’ oversight committee, mandatory annual audits, and public disclosure of all spending ensures funds are used for voter-approved projects only
-
Every penny must remain under local control to repair and upgrade Tracy schools only
-
No funds can be taken away by the State
-
No funds could be used for administrators’ salaries or pensions
Join local teachers, parents, grandparents, business leaders, elected leaders and others in voting Yes on O to repair and upgrade Tracy schools!
